Zinfandel, a lucky choice

Yields were down in California vineyards in 2011, with the main culprit being frost, and cold and soggy weather on top of that. The season was a repeat of 2010 in that it was very cool and very late. Luckily, Zinfandel, which we had ordered in early Spring, was one of the varietals that fared better.

Our journey begins with Syrah

Our first official batch of wine began with a shipment of Syrah grapes that arrived in mid-October 2009, at Pacific Breeze winery in New Westminster, BC. The grapes were grown at Obsidian Ridge Vineyard (elevation 2,640’) in the high Mayacamas Mountains of northwestern California.
